Dealing with the Corner

Ha Ha! I took advantage of some sunny weather that broke this afternoon...and even though it was still pretty chilly, I was stricken with inspiration and my empty corner was filled.



Now what you probably won't realize just looking at it, but it can be pulled out from the outside of the corner. I'm getting a bit of grief about it from my deck builder, but I think I'm going to hold out and leave the corner as it is. I want to figure a way to make it secure, but in a temporary fashion. Wooden pegs are a possibility, as are hooks or a latch of some sort. Not decided yet, but I'm interested in feedback...

Railings

I started installing the spindles on the course of railing frame that finishes (should) this project. But as I'm screwing in the screws, I completely forgot to take pictures. And when my pal, J, and I were framing in the 4 X 4s, I forgot, too!!!



But here, you can see that I've been hard at work spacing the 2X2s with a 2X4 so I comply with code and here's the result.



While I'm still designing the corner bit in my head (I'm thinking about a triangulated shelfing sort of thing - open, but another little plant stand or something - I'm really pleased with how this has turned out.
